Design Statement

This piece was created to commemorate the 80th anniversary of our company’s founding. We aimed to develop a new product that symbolizes Japanese woodworking craftsmanship and share it with the world. Kumiko is an intricate lattice formed by assembling many small wooden components and has been widely used throughout Japan. The structure expresses the depth, flexibility, and strength inherent in kumiko craftsmanship. The overlapping delicate layers evoke the image of a forest.
